Interview with Lars Moereels
How did Lars Moereels begin his quest into graphics, music and design?
I started photographing with my dad’s polaroid when I was 13. I feel like I’ve made the most progress within the last year. My passion for graphic design started after seeing the work of my homies Stig & Max

Do you have any influences that stand out to you from being a kid or teenager?
This might sound cliche but: I’m influenced by love & my own imagination. And maybe a little bit by plastic toys and liquids .
The Designers Republic (TDR):
The other day my brother and I were discussing a series of games that had a big impact on both of our lives. It shaped my musical tastes at an early age, and I think subconsciously kneaded some of my passion for graphic design into my brain. This game was ‘Wipeout’ - you know, the one that had you flying spaceships around incredibly close to the ground on futuristic race courses set on some weird planet. Yeah, so that game did a lot for me - I was about 5 when I first played it, so I was far to young to be thinking of aspects such as who the game designers decide will produce the music and the branding both in-game and in real life - I assumed it was all done in house. Turns out the soundtrack was put together by scores of electronic artists such as Aphex Twin, Cold Storage, LFO, Photek and Orbital. The designers, however, were 'The Designers Republic’, whose work has resonated with me for the last 14 years (no doubt it was subconsciously kneaded into my brain at an early age). Here’s some of their work for the game:
